Long ago, in the King Janak Regime, who ruled Janakpur in Nepal and Bihar, India, Mithila Art Started with its own type and forms. King Janak is believed to be the father of Sita in Ramayana Mythology who is married to Ram of Aayodhya. Mithila is the capital city of Janakpur at that time so the art work is known as Mithila Arts.

Mithila Artwork is produced by Maithili Speaking community, peoples, and residents in mid-east of Nepal, Janakpur and in India and can be traced back as far as 7th century and has been passed from generation to generation till date. In India it is called Madhubani.

Mithila Artwork is the most famed and renowned indigenous Art Form on Paper and Cloth that demonstrate mythological and religious events. The traditional form of Mithila Art reflects the natural environment including animals, people, lifestyles, tradition and culture of local people.

Mithila Art is a strictly monopoly of the women of Mithila. It is true that Nepal and India’s Mithila Art is having a Feminist Renaissance.

    I just launched my small businesses site –also built in wordpress like yours– but the theme slows (!) the site down quite a bit.
